There are plenty of things to get excited about when thinking of this year’s new iPhone 8, many of them never before seen on an Apple smartphone. The handset is expected to feature a brand new design with a display that occupies much more of the phone’s face — the home button is going away, and the bezels will be reduced significantly so that a bigger screen can be mounted inside a phone that’ll be about as big as the 4.7-inch iPhone 7. According to an industry insider who  spoke to Reuters , Apple is gearing up to begin manufacturing the  iPhone SE  in the south Indian city of Bangalore. The news follows  our report from two weeks ago  about Apple’s plans to start building phones in India by the end of April. Priyank Kharge, IT minister of the state of Karnataka (of which Bangalore is a part), tweeted – and then deleted – an announcement signaling that the company would kick off manufacturing operations soon. The Economic Times reported earlier today that the Cupertino-based firm is looking to  build between 300,000 and 400,000 iPhone SE units  in a plant that will be handled by Taiwanese manufacturer  Wistron . However, the company’s India Country Director, Sudipto Gupta,  told Digit  yesterday that he is unaware of any such plans. Apple is expected to release three new iPhones next fall — one premium model with a better screen using "OLED" technology, and two more iterative improvements to the current iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.  All three will have glass casing and wireless charging, according to Kuo's note seen by Business Insider.  Apple may be concerned that the new iPhones may overheat more than older phones, according to the research. Apple and the FBI went to war last year over an iPhone owned by San Bernardino, California, shooter Syed Farook, and whether or not the FBI should be granted access to that phone. Apple argued that doing so set a dangerous precedent for data privacy in general, while the FBI insisted it was a matter of national security. In the end, the battle abruptly ended when the FBI reportedly decided to work with Israeli firm Cellebrite, which said it would be able to hack the phone with or without Apple’s help. Now, however, it seems as though Cellebrite has been hacked — and that hacker has publicly released some of that data to try and send a warning to the FBI. The data includes some code that is reportedly related to the Universal Forensic Extraction Device that can crack iPhones like the iPhone 5c, as well as some Android phones.
